LTI- Lti was held in Marin and was a huge success. Chapter board members and Regional General Board members enjoyed a weekend of leadership training, ruach, and fun.
Fall Kinnus- Fall Kinnus 2007 was a great convention that produced many wonderful memories. Ethan Sherman rocked the first ever New Frontier talent show with his guitar playing and will be representing our region at the International Convention Talent Show. We all learned about body image and how issues like tattooing and piercings relate to Judaism. Co-chairs Anna Meyer and Jessie Bricker as well as the Regional Board and host chapter, SAUSY, helped make this convention so great. And I can't forget to mention everybody's favorite DJ/poet, Lani Lubliner, who had us all shakin' it out on the dance floor on Saturday night. Thanks to everyone for coming to convention and making it the huge success that it was!
International Convention- In December New Frontier sent 59 USYers to Anaheim for International Convention 2007. It was 8 days of pure mayhem, craziness, and tons of fun. We spent Pre Convention with our amazing host chapter, Adat Shalom in Los Angeles. Then we all went to Anaheim where 1200 USYers from all over North America were all crammed together in a beautiful hotel. We spent a day at Disneyland, learned, ate, sang, danced, prayed, and so much more. IC '08 will be held in Washington DC and you definitely don't want to miss it.
ISS-ISS 2008 was a wonderful convention. We spent the weekend at the beautiful Walden West camp site in Saratoga Co-chairs Daneh Farahi and Gabe Schwartz as well as your New Frontier REB planned an amazingly fun and educational weekend. The theme was "our purpose as Jews" and scholar Aviva Jacobs contributed a lot to the weekend. If you missed this convention then you missed out on our annual Mac and Cheese eating contest where defending champions, Aryeh Canter and Abby Gavens (both seniors) defended their titles earning 40 class cup points for the senior class. After the crazy dance on Saturday night we all sat around an intimate camp fire and sang along with everyone's favorite guitarist, Ethan Sherman. Also, over the weekend there was a "perspective regional board meeting" where information was given about running for Regional Board. If you are interested in running for REB and were not present please contact me.
SA/TO Seder- Walnut Creek hosted New Frontier's Regional SATO themed Seder. Everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon of Passover themed games and activities and a plethora of tasty treats. New Frontier hasn't had a regional Seder in more than 30 years and hopefully this tradition will continue for many years to come. Typically Passover is a holiday that we celebrate with our family and loved ones and it was truly a wonderful experience to share a mock Seder with the New Frontier family. Don't miss the Regional Seder next year.
May Convention- This convention is THE highlight of the year and you really don't want to miss this. More than 150 USYers will be gathering together in San Mateo to elect a new Regional Board and share a lovely three day weekend together. The weekend will be jam packed with crazy fun activities, insanely educational programs, a super hyphy dance and SO MUCH MORE. Every year Memorial Day Weekend means one thing...MAY CONVENTION!!!!! Come join ALL of your friends for the best weekend of your life.
